St. Mark’s Institute Main
St. Mark’s Institute as it is known today had a humble beginning. It started on February 1986 as a Preschool at Casimiro Village, Las Piñas City. With only thirty-two kindergarten pupils, it’s name then was known as Sunshine Grade School. The school was acquired by Dr. Amelita C. Ihada after responding on a newspaper ad while working for the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
Owing to goodwill with complimenting management sagacity and perseverance, it’s operations grew vibrantly in a short span of time. In response to the growing demands of the surrounding community, it expanded it’s operations from just Preschool and Grades 1 – 3 levels to offering a complete elementary course on its third year of operations. From a handful of 32 pupils, it’s population mushroomed to five hundred.
On it’s fourth year of operations (1989), the school started to offer a Grade 7 level to accommodate it’s graduating Grade 6 pupils. It was then followed by offering Grade 8 the next year. From then on, it’s population continued to grow vibrantly and by 1991, the complete High School course was offered. Consistent to its Mission and Vision https://stmarksinstitute.com/ , it’s name was then changed to St. Mark’s Institute (SMI Inc.) as a compliment to St. Mark the Evangelist https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_the_Evangelist. Currently, SMI Main operates with a total number of 70 faculty and support staff and has a student population of around 800.
St. Mark’s Institute Annex
In the early parts 2005, Dr. Ihada was again presented with the opportunity to expand by acquiring a small and thriving school named St. Buenaventure. Changing it’s name to St. Mark’s Institute Annex, it initially offered a Summer Camp Program for Preschoolers in the same year. Fifteen pupils faithfully attended the Reading Enhancement, Math Skills Training and Music and Movement Classes. These Summer Campers, joined by the former school’s returning enrollees pioneered the 1st year of SMI Annex. A total of 127 students ( 42 Preschoolers and 85 Grade School Students) were promoted by the end of March 2006. The growth of it’s student population since then was significant and encouraging. In 2009, SMI Annex would start to offer a complete High School course. It acquired the lot adjacent to it’s current site and expansion of it’s campus was on it’s way. Since then, SMI Annex has established itself as an important academic institution in the community. Presently, SMI Annex operates with a total number of 25 faculty and support staff with more than 500 students as it’s population.
St. Mark’s Institute Bauan, Batangas
In 2015, Mr. Roberto Ihada (SMI Annex Administrator) with his brothers Marcelino and Ferdinand (Executive Assistant to the School Head), in cooperation with Ms. Rhaida Alvarez, who used to be a teacher at SMI Main, established it’s third campus in Bauan, Batangas. St. Mark’s Institute Bauan was born. Under the guidance of SMI Inc., it started it’s first Academic Year in 2016 offering Preschool and Grade 1 levels. While it is still growing, it’s goal is to propel itself into becoming another established Primary and Secondary School in Bauan City, Batangas. SMI Bauan currently has a total number of 5 faculties (teaching and non-teaching) with around 30 students for it’s population.
St. Mark’s Institute Inc.
During it’s 35 years of operations, SMI Inc. has successfully established 2 Campuses in Las Piñas City and 1 satellite Campus in Bauan, Batangas. SMI Main Campus offers K1 to 12. SMI Annex Campus offers K1 to 10 levels but will be able to offer K11 & 12 starting 2021. SMI Bauan offers Pre-School and K1 to 3 levels and is currently adding another level in each year of operation.
